Hi russellb,
What country are you based in?
Which camera database are you using (PocketGPSWorld or TomTom one)?

Shall we read that as 'standard' TomTom database?
Or seeing as your are on PGPSW website, & one could assume the PGPSW version to be the 'standard' by which all others are measured....you may be using the 'standard' PGPSW database.
I don't see Australia listed as supported on the PLUS service camera pages at the mo?
Nope, still not sure about this one.....give us a clue.
PS Does it do it immediately, as if part of the same warning sentence.
Or is there a delay, possibly warning of approaching other POI i.e. Filling Station or even an exit ramp.
Are you positive it does it every time or maybe it just seems like that?
cheers |

Also, as well as telling us which camera database you are using, please tell us what method you are using for the audible warnings.
Any extra detail helps us to try to work out what's going on! |

When this happened on my tomtom all it was doing was letting me know where the next speed camera or petrol station was.You can turn it off if you if you go to your settings and uncheck some boxes. |

russellb,
This is what I have on a 910, but your should be very similar, if not identical.
1. Go to Change preferences.
2. Go to manage POIs
3. Go to Warn when near POI.
4. Select the POI that you want. In this case a speed camera, but it can be any POI (petrol station, fish & chips, a good cricket team )
5. Enter the warning distance.
6. Now you have 4 options;
the first says the POI catagory and then adds the distance to the next closest;
the second only warns of the POI;
the third gives the old TT sound effects;
the fourth allows you to enter your own message.
Cheers

I have a 710 and after following the above and entering the distance, only get the 'warn if on route' checkbox screen then it's finished.
If anyone knows whether the 4 choice screen ( a la 910 above ) is activated from a hidden menu option, let us all know.
Otherwise, the 910 has some funky features......... |

Hirvevarra wrote: | Otherwise, the 910 has some funky features......... | Have a read through THIS for how to install / configure the Speed Cameras on the 910, the same guide applies to other models in the range, just disregard the Text To Speech bit, there are more options available to the user with a 910.
Russellb, if you want POI warnings on your device you can have a read through the above linked guide, but I would also take a look HERE - Mike |

At the moment my 710 does do TTS warnings. I have not upgraded to the latest sofware version for obvious reasons as I dont want to lose TTS |

Message to others please don't think you can easily get the TTS working on the 510/ 710 units - there is a license issue preventing this from being legal - Mike |
