What would happen if my girlfriend accidentally put my loaded SD card (containing new firmware and new UK maps, voices, speed cameras) into her TomTom One unit?

Will it work ok or is there some kind of block?

Thanks,
Tc

You will be asked for an activation code. Available from here: www.ttcode.com

If you use the code her GO will take over the maps.

If it's an original then no problem apart from licencing infringements Wink

Fair enough but how does the activation code stop mine from working?
If I never plug mine into the pc again?

Its not an original card as the card that came with my TomTom was too small for the maps.

You put the map into the satnav. It gets the the product code from the map (every genuine copy of every map has a different product code) and combines this with the device code from the satnav to produce an expected activation code. When you go to the tomtom code site and enter the product code and device code, it checks that the product has not already been activated and then gives you the correct activation code. If it has been activated already (by the guy on e-bay you bought it from!!!) you get a terse note that it's already been activated so tough. Once you get a valid activation code, you enter it into the device and it compares with what it's expecting. If they match, it lets you use the map. If they don't it won't.

Cool thanks.

I think you are digging a little. I didnt buy it from Ebay. I paid for the new GB and Ireland map and a French map and its all on my 1GB SD card.
I was wondering with all these codes how it works as my girlfriend also has a TomTom One after I recommended it.

I know there are codes galore as it was a nightmare to load and thats after I paid for a copy.

But to answer your original question, when your girlfriend puts it into her machine, it would recognise it as a new map and ask you for the activation code. The one you already have for your machine won't work on hers (Different product code, so the algorithm for pairing will expect a different activation code). Her machine will simply refuse to work with that map.
