Hi

When i leave my Mio C710 off for a couple of weeks i cannot turn it on. I have to plug it to the power supply to turn it on. It then starts charging. Otherwise the unit starts normally once connected to the power supply.

It's like the battery is drained although the unit is left turned off.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mine does the same on the rare occasions it's switched off for a long period. I believe there is a small current drain even when you have pressed the Off button.

I have this issue. I hadn't used it for a while (3 weeks ish), plugged it in and to the cigarette lighter and off I went - was working fine and charging.
But, there must have been very little charge left as I stopped the car and turned off the unit. When I came back 5 minutes later it wouldn't turn on, even though it was plugged into the car charger. Even 20 minutes charging switched off, it still wouldn't turn on.
However, at home plugged into the USB cable attached to the PC and it came to life immediately. (tried turning it on just before I plugged it in but nothing). Had to go through all the language and date/time setup again.

So, I conclude a couple of things here.

1. the battery has quite a lot of drain when 'off' - I think the main CPU is still running all the time and the software is loaded and running as when you turn it back on again it picks up where you left off instantly.

2. There is some difference between the USB connection to the PC and to the car. I don't know whether the car does not supply as much power as the PC and takes longer to charge or whether the driver for the PC boots it up regardless of how much charge the battery it has or something.

Anyone with any knowledge of how this could be different ?

Paul

Ok, this could have been my issue. Turning off the ignition with the Mio unit still switched on and plugged into the car charger.

Still not sure why it switched on when using the PC cable rather than the car cable though. And I did not have to do a hard reset.
