Hangs PDA on startup

I have installed TomTom 2.24 (with voice and GPS) on my Dell Axim X5 running Pocket Windows 2003. The map (UK) is stored on the SD card. It worked very well with Checkpoint POI with the POIs stored on the SD card.

Due to a problem with the PDA I had to do a hard rest and restore the machine from a backup from Sprite backup. The maps and POIs were reloaded onto the SD card. Now when I try to start the program it simply hangs the PDA - the clock keeps spinning but nought happens. The only way out is a soft reset. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. Any ideas?

Have you tried to reformat the SD card? Maybe some fragmentation?
