basically i complained to tomtom about the "latest map update"
being very old and having payed good money and mentioning that i heard a few people saying about the new release on pgpsw and was quite shocked at how useless their reply was......................
thanks for your email. You purchased the tomtom navigator 5 2005 map of great britain. These maps are quite up to date, and we are sure once you actually use the map to navigate with your tomtom you will agree. The information provided by forums online is highly subjective and unreliable and we always advise our customers to take the information provided therin at face value. As you may agree, messages posted on a public forum do not always border on reality and are almost always a person's personal opinion.
Please note that the tomtom navigator 6 (2006) latest maps are already available on the tomtom website.
Best regards,
TomTom customer Support |

Since when did "subjective" mean "not on subject"? Is "face value" another way of saying "wrong"?
Maybe we should start saying Tom Tom support and after sales is terrific.
I just had my TT Newsletter and thought "Yarrooo!! New maps at last". But it wasn't. |

Just as a thought ...

You might care to consider (when the new maps do come out "soon" now) repeating your approach to TT on the grounds that Trading Standards might interpret their response as dodging the issue and their selling of the map you bought a bit fraudulent. Did you know in advance that the map you were about to buy was "2005"? At this very late stage of 2006 and with a new map release due "shortly" (and indeed announced by TT as forthcoming ever since May 2006), would one consider a 2005 map "quite up to date"?
I don't suppose simply trying to grumble at them will produce much reaction - you need to tell them you want it putting right and how you would suggest they do that. |
