Hi,

I have just updated the software to the 3.2 version on my c710, and now I seem to have to do a hard reset most times now when I turn the device on as there seems to be no life when I press the on/off button. I was wondering if anyone else seems to have this trouble after updating the software? If so have they found out why this is.

Hi alanjm

I had exactly the same problems you describe but I can't help you with the reasons why, although lack of testing on Mio's part would be partly to blame for releasing such unstable software.
As for me, (and a few others) I've gone back to v3.1 and normality has been restored.
I did run the latest maps on v3.1 for two weeks and all was OK until I tried to use the TMC, then I kept getting a 'Fatal error' message.
So now I've gone back to the old maps too and my TMC is now working normally again.
So far, the older maps have served me very well and have got me to where I'm going.
So until v3.100 I'm staying where I am. :D

Hi Ceejay,

Thanks for replying, so it seems until Mio release another update it looks like we are stuck with the erractic software.

Come on Mio at least answer my question about this which I emailed you with about 3 Weeks ago.

Hi alanjm

Unfortunately I've got about 15 unanswered emails dating back to May '06 so I've given up waiting on Mio.
Although it has to be said I have found the answers to most of my queries on here, as there are some clever people prepared to help us out. Thumbs Up

You could always go back to v3.1 if you want to restore your sanity. :D

CeeJay.

This started happening when i switched off the device it wouldn't come back on without a hard reset. However, if i disconnect the car charger then switch it off, it seems to come back on ok. If you have tried this and it doesnt come back on, i would suggest reverting back to 3.1. I am running 3.2 btw.

Yes, this hard reset phenomena appears to be unrelated to the version 3.1 or 3.2.

Unplugging the device before turning it off avoids the problem most of the time. Smells more like an OS or driver problem than a Miomap problem to me.

Hi all.

Just for the record chaps.
I too discovered, in the early days, that if I turned my car ignition off with the Mio plugged in I could guarantee that next time it needed a hard reset.
So like Swordsmaker, I am now in the habit of unplugging the device before I switch off the engine.

stevenh1983.
Unfortunately it happens on v3.1 too so reverting back to it will not solve the problem.

Since the last time i did a hard reset, unplugging before switching off has worked ok, just have to always remember and unplug first.
