Does anybody know if the new software TTN 6 for Pocket PC has the extremely valuable utility in TTN 3 that enables you to block off areas you do not wish to travel through. Question

In TTN 5 if I want to travel South I get routed 4 miles North to the AI and then 7 miles South along the A1 to the nearest point on the A1 to my home. In TTN 3 I could prevent this by highlighting the area immedately to the North.

No, permanent avoids are not possible in either TTN5 or TTN6. It was removed "on customer request"...

Thanks for the reply Lutz. I half expected TTN 6 would not have that function but I am rather sceptical that it was customer demand that warranted the removal of that facility.

I shall scout around for a replacement software for my pocket Loox 720.

Best wishes

The only other software that supports permanent avoids is Alturion. But I haven't heard anything from these guys in a long while.

Thanks Lutz. I shall have a look at it. Destinator 6 also seems to have the facility to enable permanent avoids.

So does Navman SmartST, although they haven't yet announces whether or not there will be a newer version than the current SmartST2005.

Not sure, Kam. I didn't realise that SPiN was for PDA too. I thought it was just for phones. I was thinking more along the lines of this.

Another feature that was removed after v3.07 on "customer request" (b0ll0cks) was native support for programming the hardware buttons on your PDA. I use this all the time and couldn't live without it.

I expect that this hasn't returned in v6 either - if anyone knows for sure I'd be interested.
