nuvi mount

I'm considering buying a nuvi 310 and have obviously been reading all the info I can find.

One thing I'm very confused about is the connection for audio.

This review mentions a connection on the mount for audio and can be seen in one of the images poking out to the right of the connection on the nuvi itself...

Another review mentions a combined power/audio lead and this image, albeit upside down, plainly shows the lump where the connection is...

However, there is no mention of this on Garmin's website or in their documentation and I have seen a lot of pictures of mounts without this connection.

Can someone please help? Thanks.

All Nuvi 3x0 devices have a headphone socket on the bottom left for playing the audio coming from the device on headphones / via your car stereo. This is incorrectly shown in the manual as a power connector (hence the confusion).

The Nuvi 310 and 360 also have a microphone socket on the mount itself to allow the use of an external microphone for the phone handsfree.

There is no combined power / audio lead on the Nuvi range. The mini USB socket on the back of the mount (quite clear in the Halfords picture) is for power only (although the connection on the front between the mount and the Nuvi carries both the power from the mini USB socket and the connection for the external mic socket within the mount).

Yep, that's perfect thanks.

No confusion about the socket on the nuvi itself, it was the socket on the mount, wrongly identified in that review. Makes you wonder what some of these reviews are worth if they're that far off the mark on something so simple!

Was hoping it was for audio out so I could have a cleaner hard wired mount, don't understand why they go to the trouble of making a mount with power built in and then rely on loose wires for everything else, stupidest one being the TMC connection.
