Lost Voices

I have searched the forum for other problems with voice files, and come to the conclusion that if the voice files are in the voice diectory then they should work.
So I have only just noticed that all my voice choices are greyed out, the only voices I can choose from are Ray's Andy Siddel and the woman who's name escapes me.

TTG 700
with 5.42 again Rays' for the extended names etc.
I have tried just copying the voice directory from my backup but no difference. I have not resorted to the CD as yet, but can do if necessary. Just will need to put back Ray's bits afterwards, or are they the problem. Any suggestions?

the folder is called "voices" , not "voice"
