Click on the camera icon & the details "TRUVELO:37321@40, Heading:270, Reversible" are displayed below the map.

how do you work out which way is that?

I was stupid and went past it at 42 - 43 mph, it was a dark one so no lines on the road, they are infra red?

0 is north, 90 points east, 180 points south and 270 points west.

There is also a compass on the page to help you.

Truvelo camera is usually a front-facing camera (it can also be rear facing) taking pictures using a flash gun fitted with a magenta filter (the driver is less likely to be dazzled by the flash light)

At an indictated (i.e. according to your speedo) 42-43 mph you were probably doing more like 40-41 mph in reality.

Besides most camera don't trigger until the speed limit +10% + 2 mph - ie. on a 40 mph road they trigger at 40 + 4 + 2 = 46 mph, which would be 48-49 mph according to your speedo.

Bear in mind that the quoted direction is the direction that the traffic travels, not the way the camera faces! But given that this particular one is

it doesn't really matter what is shown on the map, what matters is which way the camera is facing!

Good point but i understand that will be true with a GATSO which is rear facing only, but a Truvelo can be both front and rear facing so it's direction is not (so) important.

Not quite with you here.
The heading information is for the direction a vehicle is heading in order to get "caught".
It is totally immaterial whether the camera itself is rear-facing or front-facing (and Truvelos can be installed front or rear facing, that doesn't mean they get turned round regularly.

The extra "reversible" tag helps for cameras (eg in the central reservation ) that are manually twisted round to face the opposite direction. Although in the past, these have been added as two individual camera positions positioned one on either carriageway for units that cannot use heading information.

MaFt, please correct me if I'm wrong with either of the above...

I understand the direction of travel etc.

I'll be honest i haven't got a clue what i was getting at except to say it made sense at the time........ Shocked Confused Something to do with GATSO being rear facing and Truvelo being front and rear facing..... Embarassed

4 attempts to post an explanation......

if it's dual carriageway then yes, if single then just 'reversible'
