|
|
Hi,
I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 and I'm not a fan of windscreen mounts. Having a scout around the internet I found the Proclip website which has a specific device mount for the Garmin Nuvi and also a specific vehicle mount for my BMW E46 3 series. Has anyone tried this kind of mounting solution? Its seems quite good to me and Proclip state that it doesn't require any fitting onto the dash or any holes screwed. I am thinking of putting it to the right of my steering wheel, mounted around the vent.
I didn't like the dashboard disk that came with my Nuvi as it would mean permanently sticking the disk on my dash which I didn't want to do.
It would be great to hear any peoples thoughts/views on this.
Thanks. |

Hi anissut,
I’m a great fan of Brodit solutions. I often run two or more SatNav systems in the car at once, so I have two Pro Clips on my dashboard.
I use Brodit Move Clips so that I can easily swap the holders for my various different iPAQs.

You've confused me slightly. Are Brodit and Proclip the same thing? I'm assuming all I need is the Proclip Garmin holder and the BMW E46 Vehicle Holder. The Garmin then goes on the Proclip holder and then that goes onto the proclip that mounts on the dash? Am I right in saying that? |

Brodit is the manufacturer, and the ProClip is the vehicle specific part. You also need the specific holder for your equipment, which in this case is a Garmin.
If you have a Right Hand Drive BMW E46, then have a look at the following:
652599 ProClip
215116 Garmin Nüvi holder

I use Brodit Move Clips so that I can easily swap the holders for my various different iPAQs. | Same here - I have used Brodit ProClips in the last 2 cars, and will in the next car too. In both I also used the Move Clip to allow either swapping between different units, but also to allow near-complete removal of the mount for overnight parking.
However, a search of the vendor forum will list good and bad Brodit dealers in the UK, so be careful where you buy - the product is good, the local dealer can be a bit more hit and miss. |

Thanks guys. I have ordered from Handnav although they didn't have the Garmin Nuvi holder in stock so they estimate 7 days. Lets hope it works out ok. |
