I am using Tom Tom on another memory card on my PDA. I need to copy the favorites information from another system, is there a file i can bring across that has this info. It must be stored on the storage card somewhere but i cant find it.

Hiya,

yes, you have to copy the xx-map.cfg file to the other storage card.

The best thing to do is always use a POI category instead of favourites as favourite info is easily lost and not easily moved from machine ot machine. The best thing is to create a POI category, move al lyour favourites to it, then move the POI file (the OV2 file with the same name as the category) to the other device. If you want to then convert the POIs back to favourites you can do, but you are more likely to lose the data if TT ever has problems reading the card.

Sorry, what is difficult when you copy and paste a file?
I also have a copy of my xx-map.cfg-fiel on my sd-card (and also on my pc). if the cfg-file ever gets corrupt - then i just copy and paste it into the map-file and i have the favorites, home etc. again.

The problem arises when there is an upgrade in Major Versions. Sometimes the cfg File is not compatible with the new Version.

Another advantage of using a Favourite POI is that it can be used on any TT and, with the POI Conversion Tools that are available, converted for use on most PND that have the capability to use custom POI.

Superb! Thanks for the info. TomTom is cos once you create a favourite you can't see the address of GPS position data. Unless someone knows something I don't? Confused

Well if you've added a favourite, but later you won't to know the detials, ie: address/postcode you are unable to see this information. Only options are to rename or delete.

You could put those details in the Text when you originally name the Favourite.

If it is a Favourite, would you need to know the extra information?

Perhaps not for you, but you may be using collected favourites from several sources to create a POI file for everyone. Deliveries springs to mind as an example.

In case someone is interested, I just changed my old Scandinavia map to the Scandinavia Plus (v632). I managad to rescue my favourites by copying the .cfg file. Naturally I had to rename it to "_Plus-Map", but it was still compatible.

The only thing I lost was my Home address, but it took about 2 seconds to re-enter that... Smile

However, going with a POI category instead of favourites sounds good, I might do that.
