I have recently got one of these and let me say what a great unit, you see the thing is im STUPID!! i deleted the US maps with out thinking or taking a backup, now i need the US maps (see i told you i was stupid ) i thought i would be able to download them from tomtom but no!! called tomtom they said i can either pay for them and download them thats 100+ euros or send it to them 50+ euros or if i had a friend with a unit copy the maps off and then copy onto mine, because i already have the prosuct registration credit card thing that would be ok.
So i am begging anyone who is kind enough to copy off there US maps and zip up, (I know they are VBig) and PM me so i can supply a ftp site for them to be uploaded to!! i have been assured by tomtom that this is ok as i already own the license for the maps and upon installing on my device would need to input my own details anyway!!
Thank you for being understanding of my stupidity |

I'm amazed they said this.
Usually they say that the maps are locked to one machine/user, and ask you to send it back for re-loading. Is it in writing? |

For everyone else's education, how did you erase the maps?
This way, hopefully, no one else will make the same mistake. |

Just to let you know i checked this out with TT support and was told the same its not a problem. They said map can be transferd to another 910 but advised to not send the cfg file as this holds your details. When he docks it for update it will ask him for his code again |

So the same activation code, will work, even though the replacement map presumably has a different product code?
Or do "pre-activated" maps (i.e. one that was on a machine from new) not work in the same way? I'm sure they used to, judging by the standard "it won't work" advice we have on all the forums. |

Not sure all they said to me was not to send the cfg file as it has my info on it and that he will have to put his code in for it to work.
maby theres something in the cfg file ie if i log onto tt it knows its my map if he has my cfg file and he logs on to tt with his account it will know its not his map |
