Hi, Smile

I have a TT1 and somehow the front face not the screen the front plastic part has a bad crack in it. I honestly don't know how this has happened.

Does anyone know if I can buy a new front face and fit it easily or will I have to send it to tomtom to be fixed ? its still under a year old.

Cheers

One solution could be to buy one of the coloured fascias that just clip onto the front of the Tomtom from somewhere like PC world, I think I saw them for about £10 for 3.

But you can't get replacement facias for the TT One.
You COULD send it back to TT but why not just live with it.
TT quoted me over £150 iirc to replace a cracked screen!!!!!!

Hi all,

thanks for the suggestions.

Elder: pm sent.

Got a email from tomtom offering to send a courier to pick it up so they can see if it is covered by there warranty and send it back if it isn't. I'm a little hesistant to send it away to them, not heard much good. Also I use my tomtom alot so would be a bit inconvinient.

Thanks all for the help.

Cheers

No disrespect meant, but I would not be looking a gift horse int mouth!
If TomTom are prepared to do this, what have you got to lose?

Yes it means being without it for a short period, but better than possibly £150 out of your own pocket, (if TomTom do it a goodwill gesture).

Good point. Heres a copy of what they said

"We apologize for the delay in replying to your latest request.

We have submitted the picture you have sent us to the attention of our technical department.

In order to avoid sending the unit to repair and charge you because the damage could appear not in warranty, they have requested from us that we come and pick up your unit for further analysis. Here we will be able to determine whether the repair could be done under warranty or not.

Please let us know the complete address and the preferred time and date where we can send a courier to pick up the unit only (no accessories or SD card should be put in the package).

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team"

It's sounding like its not covered in my warranty but they may well do it as a good will gesture. Elder has possible a spare face or more and might be a simpler option. I had a tt300 before which had a something wrong internally (kept turning off) they kept it for 3 and a half weeks Sad and made it very difficult to get hold of them to find out what was happening. So I'm a smidge apprenhesive.

I guess if Elder can help me I'll be very grateful and if not I've not got much choice.

This question should be directed at Trojans. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth was the last mistake they made.
