Sorry to add to your confusion but both devices you mention will accept the PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera database, the TomTom product offers a more sophisticated warning (alerting system) when set-up correctly, the Garmin offers incredible value for money, but you will only get the beep not a speed and camera type specific warning as is possible with the TomTom devices - Mike

That is a real difficult one to call, if you go for value for money (at the prices they go for) the Garmin i3 is a great bit of kit, if you want the larger screen, extra functionality etc then the TT product is the choice.

At the end of the day it boils down to what you can justify spending on the device, and what you expect from it, I have an i3 and a TT Go-910, I use them both, they both do what they were purchased for getting you from A to B. To compare the devices is very unfair as one unit is a quarter of the price when compared to the other, so extra functionality is expected. The TT one has the same TomTom interface as the other products, easy to use etc (quicker to set-up IMHO when planning a journey).

Sorry I can't give you the answer you are looking for but device selection is a personal choice, go to a local shop and get an idea of the devices in terms of screen size, then think about the bulk of the device (as you need to take it out of the car - will it fit the pocket etc) - there are loads of other devices to consider, so I would go along to the shops and try a few out, before you purchase the unit you like - Mike

From one beginner to another.
Having recently brought the TT One I have to say I'm well pleased with it.
Although I have very little experience of other types.

As for cameras, and especially different voices it's fantastic and makes for a good bit of humour as well. :D

I bought a tom tom one several months ago and so far I am very pleased with it. I have put in a 1gb card and bought a cd with lots of voices, downloaded speed cams and changed the way my menu looks. It is a fantastic bit of kit. I personally think you made the right choice as my friend has the Garmin and although it gets you from a-b just as well you cant "play"with it.

Cazmar.

Any chance you posting the link with the instructions on changing the menu. Please.

I have already a good look but can't seem to find the correct instructions for the TT ONE.

Thanks

Thanks for the link.

But I think I will have to pass on making my own menu.
Probably something to do with my age (Old Fogy) but I can't get to grips with it (well not at the moment any way) but thanks again.

Well, I had another good look at making the menu and "success".
Although it took a few attempts to get it the way I wanted it to look but I got there in the end. Laughing

My thanks to "Skux" and "Ray" for providing and hosting the site.
