But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

Just purchased my entry into sat nav with the garmin nuvi 310,
excellent unit and fetures, just what i need. the only problem i have is i cannot access poi loader, gstart and web update programs.
i have uninstalled, regedited all files and re-installed them still to no avail.
I took my sat to a friends who has the 300 and it connected straight away and transfered the files i needed. his programs are the same version i downloaded making me assume it is something on my pc.
I can get the poi loader screen to load but with no options to continue, gstart says there is no gps attatched. have downloaded all the latest versions from garmin, phoned them 3 times to no avail.
i can mail screenshots if needed

Sounds like the garmin drivers for the usb are not installed are they . The drivers should be on the as supplied cd.
Another thought when you tried on your friends pc who's cable did you use his or yours (trying to eliminate possible faults) if his try yours what happen's.
I assume you have other usb devices that work ok on your pc.

What cd? my unit never came with one, when i installed the unit it picked up the drivers from somewhere, surley even without connectin the gps the programs should load?
i did use my own usb cable and i do have many other usb devices working.
i have also tried it in different ports on the pc.
