Problems with new SD card/maps - help!!!!

Hi there,

We've got an ipaq 1940 with Tomtom 5.21 installed and have been happily using it with the Benelux/UK maps installed on a 256 mb SD card.

This weekend we bought a shiny, new 1gb SD card - and here our problems began. We transferred the maps from the old SD card to the new one and Tomtom now refuses to work!! When trying to start up tomtom it hangs the entire ipaq - aaarrggghh.

Is this likely to be a card problem (hope not) or is it Tomtom (or, more likely, have we made a stupid mistake ).

Can anyone help??

Depends how you did the copy!

I have copied my TomTom maps etc from memory card to memory card using the SD Card interface in my laptop and it all works fine. I even copied from SD card to CompactFlash using a card reader when I was changing PDAs (waiting for new SD card to arrive) and I currently have the three maps I currently have loaded spread between a CF and SD card. The TTN sofware (located on the device itself, not on either memory card) finds all three maps when using the switch maps function.

Make sure that the copy is done properly (use a card reader to copy the entire contents to the pc and the copy that image to the new card - drag and drop works fine) but you must ensure that all files (including system and hidden files are copied.

Compare the contents of the two memory cards on the pc and ensure all the files have been copied.

Check how the card is formatted - I use FAT32 for 1Gb cards.
