I am generally happy with TT5, but was a little disappointed that the V5 maps (v572) were pretty poor.

I never thought about trying some of the newer maps, but today, got a chance to test 603 and found a bunch of improvements. Infact, all 3 things I looked at were fixed...

1. The M49 had a little kink and 2 mile curve in it which wasn't really there, this ment that you ended up in the middle of nowhere.

In 572 it looked like this:

http://home.btconnect.com/jweaver/M49%20Old.JPG

In 603 it looks like this:

http://home.btconnect.com/jweaver/M49%20New.JPG

2. Bristol City Centre was the way that it used to be 10 years ago.. Now the new system (1 way) is shown correctly:

In 572 it looked like this:

http://home.btconnect.com/jweaver/Bristol%20Old.JPG

In 603 it looks like this:

http://home.btconnect.com/jweaver/Bristol%20New.JPG

3. Barrow Gurney was just wrong:

In 572 it looked like this:

http://home.btconnect.com/jweaver/Barrow%20Old.JPG

In 603 it looks like this:

http://home.btconnect.com/jweaver/Barrow%20New.JPG

Looking closer at this, they pics are differnt scale, so there is no guarantee that Barrow is now right.. But the corner in the middle of the shot looks tighter and the road has definitely changed in 603.

However, there are still things missing (For example the Newport Ring Road), but, if there is this much of an improvement in 603 over 572, then I can't wait to see what 632 offers.

I hope that this info is of use.

I didn't think of checking.. But yes.. To my surprise, they are different..

The old one (572) was 8623K and the new one (603) is 9834K.. So its quite a marked change!

Is there something you want me to check?

If you could, my street is 8 years old but TomTom still says no street numbers available.

Could you check postcode wa3 1at and see if numbers have been added.

Thanks

The new maps are still out of date
Even though I have listed and sent theses off over 2 years ago still not on maps.

1. Trys to send you down a one way street the wrong wayThis street been one way for 15 years

2. Trys to tell me to turn right through a house House been there300 years never been a road

3. Still shows Bishops Wood as a one road village There 20 roads/Lanes village been there since domesday

Since then found a load more but whats the use of sending when they are not acted on. Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Question

Dazeck,

Sorry.. The postcode you gave still gives no street numbers.

Trigger.. I agree and any improvement is welcome, not matter how small.. What I can't believe is that TomTOm arn't making these 'minor updates' available to registered users? Even if they were to offer them at a nominal charge.

When I upgrade to V5, I was amazing that the centre of Bristol was wrong.. Not just a bit, but completely.. It made navigating through the middle almost impossible. I have now seen that this was fixed in 603, but why aren't they offering this to paying customers?

Can some tell me where newer versions of maps can be obtained please? I've got tt5 with map version 571 but seeing earlier postings here there are newer ones!

Thanks Smile

Unless I am missing something obvious, I still maintain that a current owner of TomTom (v5) can't buy them for a "Nominal Fee".

The only price I have seen the GB maps listed for is 59Euros.. This seems to apply to whether you already have the maps already.

Say you lived in another country and came to the UK, 59E for the WHOLE of GB might seem good value.. But say you already live in the UK and have already paid TomTom for UK maps, do you have to pay them another 59E just to get the updated maps? That just doens't seem right...

At the end of the day, V5 does not allow you to navigate through Bristol city centre (And many other areas) just to map errors.. If this was a bug in the actual application, then they would fix it for free.. But because its a map error, we have to pay again to get it fixed and to me that seems wrong!

Unless I am missing something and there is a way to upgrade to the latest version of the maps you have already bought for a NOMINAL fee, then I don't think that their current pricing structure is fair or ethical!

Whats the difference between the plus and non plus maps.

I purchased the upgrade of TomTom 5 direct from TomTom and received a box with about 6 cd's in it, I've only ever used non plus map. Is plus map better ?
