Nuvi: 3D map for nav, 2D for non-nav

Is there a way to accomplish this? I'm guessing Garmin could add this to the software in a future upgrade.

I found that when I specifically using the Navigation to route somewhere, I like the 3D view. On other times (which is a lot, especially during commuting) I prefer to see the north up 2D view so I can see where I am positionally, but I'm not concerned with detailed street info.

So I want:

IF (navigation status = active)
use 3D view
ELSE
use 2D view


I think this could easily be accomplished with these changes to the menus:

MAP VIEW: (no changes, this is the current available setting for the map, and by default control BOTH nav and nav-inactive views)
- north up
- bearing up
- 3D

Nav inactive view: (new setting option)
- use MAP VIEW (default, this makes it operate just like it does currently for simplicity for less experienced users)
- north up
- bearing up
- 3D
