I'm a complete newbie to Sat-Nav, and looking for an entry-level system.

I would prefer mapping that covers Southern Ireland, as I visit there from time to time, so that seems to rule out TomTom.

I was going to opt for the Garmin i3, but see that Computer Active is recommending the Navman iCN320, although the Garmin wasn't included in their test.

I would really appreciate any views on which would be the better option.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Anita

Test in personal computer world (May issue) rates Garmin i3, TTOne and Novogo A30. Navman ICN520 didn't do well.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Chrisbin.

I'm afraid patience was never my virtue so, after reading comments from i3 users on this forum, I bit the bullet and bought an i3 last week.

I'm absolutely chuffed with it, and your post makes me feel even better :D

The Garmin i3 also beat the TomTom ONE in the 'Which' satnav test!!!
Garmin 84%
TomTom 81%
Navman 75%

Sorry, Portman, I forgot to ask which issue of Which had the satnav test in it? It would make interesting reading, not only for me, I'm sure.

Its the March WHICH report, not sure if its in the magazine, but its online.

The TomTom lost out because of higher cost and it also led them down a dead-end which probably didn't help!
The Navman lost out because they thought the map was small and they found it lagged behind about 80yards.

Ultimately it came down to value for money and given that they tested the i3 at £170, the current price of £130 is a bargain, no contest!
But us i3 owners already knew that!!
