Should I update my i3 firmware to v2.7
I thought I would ask the question as I see some people have updated their i3 to v2.7. I am happy with the way my unit works at present, using v2.5, but was wondering what advantages v2.7 offers and if its worth updating.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have on this subject. |

Some people have reported problems with v2.7 - if you're happy with v2.5, then why bother to "upgrade"? If it ain't broke, don't fix it... |

The jump from 2.5 to 2.6 might not be worth it but 2.5 to 2.7 might be...
Changes made from version 2.60 to 2.70:
Added 'city' selection step for address and intersection searches.
Corrected error in extended postal code searches that would cause the same result to be returned for different searches and prevented the result from being added to the 'recent finds' list.
'Driving away from route' is now detected more quickly.
Disabled the 'detour' option on the main menu when satellites are lost.
Updated text translations for Swedish, Polish, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, Czech, and German.
Fixed a problem where a user's scroll position was lost after long searches.
Language changes are now prevented when the user inserts a data card for a different region.
Changes made from version 2.50 to 2.60:
Correct long route calculation time in Denmark.
Updated text translations for Italian, French, Norwegian, and Hungarian.
Remember Firmware updates are relased for a reason. |

That's true - they're released to fix bugs in previous versions. But if you're not experiencing problems due to those bugs, then there's nothing to gain :D
If you're happy with v2.5, then I'd stick with that. Otherwise give v2.6 or v2.7 a try - remember, you can always reinstall an earlier version if you don't get on with the new one (which I didn't). |

Yes if your happy with 2.5 stick with it. But for anyone else reading this - If they have 2.0, 2.3 or 2.4 they should definitely concider the upgrade. In my opinion 2.5 was the first software release that didnt crash. |

i agree with gcb...i use v2.50 and have had no crashes or lockups....using v2.70 caused me problems so i went back to v2.50.... _________________ *************************** |

For kblokey
From FAQ
Q: My i3 seems to miss out voice commands or have words missing from it's repertoire! Help!
A: When the i3 is first set up it installs all the voice files for the specific language that you select. Things go wrong if this process is interrupted (usually by our own impatience!) and not all the voice files are loaded. The easiest way to fix this is to go to the settings and change the voice language to something different (e.g. 'American English') and then change it back to 'British English' - this will reload the British voice files but it takes a while so be patient this time!!
Hope this helps

Try switching the language to English US and then back to English UK. This can correct some audio problems. |
