Runs slow on new card

Running TT5 on an Acer N30, UK maps runs absolutely fine using the 128MB card supplied. I have copied the whole card to a new 1MB SanDisk card, now everything runs markedly slower. Using the full France maps on the new card (the reason I bought it) it can take 4-5 minutes to calculate a complex route (800 Kms, mostly motorway) - surely that can't be right. Both cards are formatted FAT. Any suggestions?

Some time ago there was a lot of discussion about the merits of different makes of card. I remember that SanDisk SD cards came out very badly - a lot of people reported very slow route calculations using those cards, their problems disappearing when they switched to another brand. The general consensus seemed to be that cards made in Japan performed best
