Very slow "lock on" for fortunab GPSmart Blue toot

I am looking for advice as to whether my GPsmart has developed a fault or there is another issue?

I have been using the GPSmart as a GPS receiver with my Ipaq 2210 (TomTom 5). It has had only moderate in-car usage over the 2 yrs I have had it.

It now seems to take an age to actually generate the "ready" message. For example if I put it my pocket and go for 1 hour work it may only have 2 satellites locked. If I leave it static it may eventually lock on after maybe 30 mins. Monitoring on my ipaq, it sometimes can get 4 good strength satellites but does not fully activate.

It does seem to have a deteriated? Is this common??? I do not know what firmware it has but I unsucessully tried to upgrade to 2.26.

Would appreciate feedback and/or suggestions.
