Hallo to all!
I have this fine receivere by a week, and I found a problem:
After 3-4 hours swithed off it takes 4-8 minutes to have the fix!
I tried to remove battery for a night, to do a "cold" reset from GPS Viewer in the evening an let it find the sats for 15-20 minutes...
In the early morning it worked (about 40-50 seconds to fix), but after 4 hours it takes 4 minutes to make the fix!
And this in the same place I arrived in the morning, in an open place without buildings where I got 6-7 sats early (and also of course after the fix).
Is this a "bug" of my receiver?
Thanks a lot for help! |

The only time mine takes a while is if I start moving before the receiver has got a fix. Strangely enough it seems to be slow speeds, ie walking pace, which seems to cause it problems. When I use it for hiking I always make sure I have a fix before I start moving. If I don't do that it can take twenty minutes or more before I get a fix. |

I tested and I'm wondering !!!
It's as you said, after some hours switched off at the start-up the TTF seems to be :
1. if you are firm in a place it takes the fix in less then a minute.
2. if you're in a car moving it's quite the same.
3. BUT IF you are movin' slow (walking) it takes a lot of minutes to have the fix!
Can someone other confirm this strange behaviour?
Thanks a lot ahardie !!! |

Mine is the same - walk and it never gets the fix. Leave it stationary with a decent sky view and it cold starts in 40 - 45 seconds. |

Presumably this is a fault.
Should we be thinking about returning them?
Is it something fixed by a later firmware version I wonder?
NC_HOLUXUK ? Any advice ? |

This seems to happen with both the wired GR-213 & the BT GR-236, so it is either a Holux thing or a sirfstar 111 thing. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

Hi,
My apologies, I have not checked the forum in a couple of days.
Do you all have the latest firmware installed - 3.1.1?
I will talk to our technical department and ask them to have a read of this and see what their suggestions are.
I use a 236 myself and use with either my 4150 or MDA Pro running tomtom5 and my locks are generally pretty fast. |

Hi NC_Holux
You have told me - as in Holux UK, that I have the latest firmware in my GR-213 wired gps receiver, and it exhibits the same behaviour - if I don't wait for a fix, then it will take ages to get a fix. Talk to Julie as she knows all about my case. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

I guess this begs the question - "is this a fault?"
It certainly is to me as I use my 236 mainly for walking/geocaching. |

NC_Holux,
I am unable to determine either mine or my father's firmware's as we have no BT enabled PC's or PDA's to run a program on. I have posted here http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=32701 a query with serial numbers - perhaps you could do me a favour and find out what firmwares we have? _________________ iPhone 4S with TomTom WE & Cameralert |
