City Maps

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help, the maps you can buy and download from tomtom, say e.g city of manchester or bristol is it more detailed thank the one already installed on the memory card? My map version is Great Brittain v571, and wanting to buy a city map if it is dedicated to that city with extra POI's and mapping detail.
