Hello all. I have taken a look around the TT forum but cannot find an answer to my challenge.

I downloaded the safety cam file and saved it in a handy place on my computer hard drive. The download went well but when I try to open the saved file the following happens.

I double click the file labelled pocketgps_uk_sc_dec05.zip and a box for "RealOne" player opens. This box almost instantly changes to a dialog box advising me that "RealOne" player needs an update software to view this clip.

Even though (with my limited experience) I am certain that this is not the required program to open the safety cam file I have selected the "OK" button to see what happens. All that happens is that I am advised that the software cannot open the file.

I am not very computer nor tomtom savvy but I can follow the very simple installation instructions available on this site. This however, has me stumped. Can anyone help me?

It sounds as if your computer does not have any software for opening ZIP files and it is defaulting to Real Player as the software for opening the file which is obviously incorrect.

If you think you do have software for opening ZIP files on your system try right clicking on the file and it should give you an option to "Open with" and choose the application for opening ZIP files.

If you do not know if you have an application for opening ZIP files then download WINZIP from the following location and install it and then try to open the file and you should be able to do so.

It's quite possible that Realplayer has simply decided that IT should handle .zip files for some daft reason, that we can sort out later, if you like.

To get you going now, what you need is either Winzip, as smytho says, or if you are running a newer version of Windows, then Windows can do it itself.

Assuming you are running XP, try right clicking on the file in My Computer or Windows Explorer. In the list there should be an item called "Extract All...". Click on that and it will open the Extract Compressed Folders Wizard, which should lead you through the process.

Thanks for the responses fellas I will try the winzip site. I'll let you know how I get along so that anyone else with similar issue can use the same process by following the thread.

Thanks fellas I aced it. I couldn't have done it without your help. A question though.

Now that I have the PGPS safety cams listed as POIs do I still need to have the tomtom safety cam POIs as well? Do I delete the tomtom ones or can I just leave them with no harm done? Are the two files running in tandem or does one take precedence over the other?

I must say that the tomtom safety cam file has at least two errors that I know of near my home. If I will cause no harm I would prefer to take off the TT file.
