Morning all,

I have been reading about people installing arials for their i3, does this make all that much difference. I have a " normal" windscreen but was wondering if it would be an advantage in having one.

Thanks in advance...Dilwyn

Morning matb,

Sorry, I am on holiday this week and the missus wants me to decorate over the weekend , so I am trying to sort out my own bits and bobs first.

I called at the garage the other day having recently bought a new car, as I wanted to ask them about removing the plastic cover on the side of the windscreen, I have now removed the clip / clasp off the top of the suction mount and the rubber bit and bolted it through the plastic strip and then just pushed it back into place, so now my mount is ready and waiting with the power lead all neatly wired in place, then I saw the bit about the arial
so if it is an advantage I thought of fixing it next to the rear view mirror on the dotty bit and running the cable down the inside of the plastic cover and out next to the now permanent mount. But wanted to find out first is it worth it .

Regards....Dilwyn

in my limited experience having the aerial located on the outside of the car, by means of its magnet, would seem the better option.

if you are going to the lengths of routing wires under trim etc, then feed it to the back of the car and site it on the roof, if estate or hatch, or boot for saloon.

will keep you from the wifes expected jobs anyway Wink for a while

Thanks Matb,

I take it you would only affix to the roof when actually out and about,
I dont know if its worth it unless it makes all that much difference in having it.

it all depends where you want to place the i3...on the windscreen will be fine ..on the upper dash again you should'nt get problems...lower dash you will loose reception and then you need an antennae ...some windscreens also prevent reception so an antennae is needed...maplins do a great one @9.99..
people have also found that in large cities an anttenae is useful...i would try it without and see how you go..

Thanks Zogman, I will leave it for now then, haven`t really got very big cities in anglesey anyway plus the fact for that price i can pick one up anytime. The i3 will be on the dash but attached to the door stanchion!
if that makes any sense...

Thanks again, regards...Dilwyn
