TT5 no GPS signal visible but navigates ok

I have a Medion PDA with Tomtom v5.0 installed with uk and major roads of europe maps. I have set the pda to comunicate with "other cable NMEA GPS" baud rate 4800 / com 1.
The navigation software works a treat and the GPS black and yellow circle is turning but it does not display how many GPS are used / locked. Any ideas?

This seem to be a frequent problem !

I've previously suggested that a 'sticky' be made, explaining how to correct this !

Until that's done, follow the advice in this thread.
