I'm new here! What a great site!

Now I'd love it if someone could help it get even better for me! I've searched for this problem but couldn't find a thread!

I have TomTom Navigator 5.21 installed on my T-Mobile MDA Vario and have a GlobalSat Bluetooth GPS receiver. The serial number is BT - 20255.

I try to create a NEw Partnership in the bluetooth settings of the Vario and it asks for a passkey. I enter that and it appears to add the GPS ok although when I start TomTom it says 'No GPS Device'.

Anyway, sometimes it seems to keep the settings ok and it all works well; the next time I come to use it it tells me 'No GPS Device' it then keeps trying to pair up and repeatedly asks for the passkey which I enter to no avail.

I'm not sure I'm explaining myself very well here but essentially sometimes it keeps the pairing, other times it doesn't and even if it appears to be paired up they don't work together!

The GPS receiver was a friend's who had been using it with TomTom Nav 3, could this be the problem?

Please help it's driving me up the wall, Thanks Very Much in advance!

TomTom doesn't need the pairing, but it needs to know which COM port it is. What operating system and what Bluetooth stack are running on the Vario?

Perhaps you could have a read of THIS from yesterday, firstly please check you have actually got TomTom version 5,21 loaded onto the device.
If so make sure you have set-up an outgoing comm port and assigned a com port to the Bluetooth GPS device (WM2005 OS).
If all the above fails, then your reciever is probably stuck in SiRF mode, for it to work correctly with TTN5 it needs to be switched to NMEA mode, download the GPS driver for TomTom navigator version 2,06 from HERE and install it to your device, you can use this software to "switch" the GPS unit back from SiRF to NMEA, if you are unsure please re-post once you have tried the above - Mike

Ok, I've got TTN version 5.21.

I've downloaded the GPS driver update and it told me it had installed but when I checked in TT it said the original version still?

I can't find how to update to NMEA although I have looked everywhere!

I feel thick!

The GPS driver you have downloaded and installed is a standalone application in its own right, simply go to programs on the PDA and it should be there it will be named GPS and look like a satellite dish, tap it.
Select the SiRF mode and speed from the drop down boxes, then make sure the device is displaying information (take it outside).
Once you have it working in SiRF mode use the drop down boxes to select NMEA etc. then take it back outside to make sure it is working, once you have data on the screen, stop the program and run up TTN5,21 select the GPS/ configure and set it up as normal - Mike
