Hi there,
I have an ipaq 3970, with tomtom 5.. Just got a Holux CR-100 and I cant get it to work!
The orange light on the gps receiver just stays orange.. it doesnt flash to say it's got a 3d fix.
Also, in TomTom 5, i select the Other Cable NMEA GPS -> baud 4800 -> Serial Cable on Com1: (there isnt just a COM1 option, like there is for COM3 and COM6:) and then the ipaq hangs... If i softreset and go back into TT i can then select the Serial Cable on Com1 but TT just reports GPS Signal lost, and on the GPS status page it says no valid GPS signal, this is even if I am outside...
Please help me!! am a bit disappointed at the moment because all the reviews say the cr100 is a good bit of kit...
Thanks,
Me. |

have you installed any external keyboard drivers?
try installing the tomtom update @ www.tomtom.com -> support -> PDA nav -> tomtom 5 -> updates manuals
You should have a serial cable com 1. _________________ Regards

Try contacting holux UK directly. They have great tech support and might be able to shed some light on the problem.
Also I seem to remember using the Tom Tom wired option not the 'other' option but I might be wrong. If it were me, I'd plug in the reciever with power then leave it for half an hour to be sure you have a fix, then add PDA, step through them one by one but allow enough time for the software to show you that it definately can't get a fix in that setting (about 15 secs should be enough). I fell foul of that with one setup and just wasn't allowing enough time. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

you should not have a problem and you should have an option for serial cable com 1, sounds like a driver issue not hardware. _________________ Regards

Hi,
Irrelevant of what TTN5 is doing the CR100 should get a lock & the orange light should start to flash.
What vehicle are you using the cradle in? Does it have a tinted or athermic windscreen? If it does you will need to a reradiating antenna as the CR100 does not function very well in this environment.
By all means give tech support a call if you are still having trouble.
Regards,
Julie |
