The Program should auto install into the main memory of the Acer. Maps should be installed on the SD card. (They will not fit on the main system anyway)
When setting up Acer n35 for TTN5
Other NMEA
Baud Rate 57600
GPS on NAVAGATOR (Their spelling Laughing Out Loud)

It can take up to 10 mins for the first ever logging on to the Sats, be patient and all works fine with these settings.
If you do not use the system for a while it takes a few minutes to log on to sats. If you use it daily only a few seconds :-)

I would suggest getting another SD card as Destinator3 does not leave much room on their card. It is after all a 256Mb card and has the complete auto install and maps on it. I would suggest a 512Mb SD card to use for TTN5

Many thanks for that.

I can now get into the TT software and set it up but after the screen where it asks which voice i would like it tells me there are no maps. What am i doing wrong? Have I got the maps in a folder i shouldn't have on the SD card?

Thnx again.

Oli

The maps should be installed in a folder on teh SD card.
For UK maps this is Great-Britain-Map. If this is not the folder that is on your SD card then copy it from your CD to SD card and all should be well

Hi Mystery.

Just a query. I also have an Acer N35 running TTN5. I have had issues regarding signal strength & was told to reduce the Baud rate from 57600 to 4800 or 9600. Is there any particular reason why 57600 would be better than 4800/9600?

The higher the baud rate the faster the info is transferred.
This may sound daft to you, but with the Acer mounted in a car try using the GPS flap in a 90 degree position behind the Acer rather than the vertical. This will allow more of the receiving antenna to capture signals. Many will be using it in the vertical position and thereby lose some of the signal as the GPS is presenting a small area for capture.
I have mine on 57600 baud rate and have travelled for hours with no loss of signal, and the GPS flap in the horizontal.
