XDaIIi/TT/BT connection

Hi all
with the above hardware and TT v5.0. I can't get the xda to recognise the input from the gps unit TFAC BT30. I have paired the devices and I can get a temporary connection 2-3 mins normal before the connection appears to time out.
questions
1 which port should I tell the TT 5.0 to look for the the gps unit on?
2 whu wont the connection hold for longer than a couple of minutes?

All thoughts ideas welcome
