I'm confused! Dell pack Navteq maps with their reciver. Yet I dont see this product reviewed as a separate product. Why is this and what would be the best GPS maps to buy if you bought a stand alone GPS reciver. How do you know if it will be compatible?

Navteq & Tele Atlas are just map data suppliers.

Navigon now use Navteq for their latest gsp software, but they previously used Tele Atlas.

TomTom use Tele Atlas for their latest gps software.

Not sure about other GPS suppliers.

Dell's software is not Navteq, that's the map data provider. Dell do in fact use iNav aka Intellinav which appears in many guises such as Deluo Routis, Socket MyNavigator and more. It has been reviewed here.
