Hope this is going to make sense to you ... Here goes ... I have an ipaq 2210 which came with pirated software. Not being happy with this, I bought and loaded a new/authentic TT5 a few days ago. I am trying to search within Tom Tom for points of interest to see what I need to download for my own use but the bluetooth consol keeps switching itself on and, no matter what I do to switch it off, it keeps on switching itself on again and again. I think it must be configured to be "on" all the time when TT5 is on. I was trying earlier to "Navigate to" a known post code and it kept coming back on screen making it impossible to finish entering information. Interestingly, when I tapped on either cancel or the 'X' at top right of screen, whatever symbol which was beneath the tapped area of the blutooth screen came up at the end of the partial postcode/placename - more often than not the / or X. What can I do? Also, and maybe it is connected but when I try and install the Fortuna bluetooth GPS, it's only recognised through a wired link on port 8 and not, as I thought it should be, via a bluetooth connection. Any ehlp would be much appreciated. |

The wired GPS selection is correct so don't wory about that, TT when it fires up knows you are using a BT GPS and therefore tries to connect to it via auto switching on the BT system in the PDA, the only way to stop this is to select a serial port (say comm1) but then your BT conection will not work. I notice you mention partial postcode - have you not fixed it to use the full 7 dig postcodes? and finally have you upgraded the TT to vs5,1 - Mike |

Thanks for the reply Mike. When I try and input a postcode or a town/city name, bluetooth interrupts so that I can't finish inputting the information. The blutooth consol screen comes up and stays there until I tap on "cancel" twice or in any other way. But it comes back within about 5 seconds or so to interrupt again. This doesn't seem to affect others here in the forum, as I haven't seen a similar thread here so it must be a settings issue on my pda. I was hoping that the brains amongst the users here could help me.
Repeating what I mentioned in my first post, wherever I tap on the bluetooth consol screen, the character in the keyboard in the bluetoothscreen under it is entered so I may want to enter lets say CF31 5RD but I get as far as CF3, the bluetooth screen comes on, I cancel it and when the postcode screen re-appears it's got CF3X, the "X" being the character in the keyboard immediately behind where I tapped to get rid of the b'tooth screen.
I'm new to TT and don't know whether it's set for 7 digit postcode input or not. How do I do that please? Also I've just bought TT5. Is 5.1 free? If so, I assume I download from TT site.
There are lots of other issues e.g. Downloading Speedcam areas that I'm not sure of.
Thanks again for the reply. |

Have you paired the Bluetoth GPS unit with the PDA if so then switch it on and let the PDA and tomtom connect up to it - if you are in the house put GPS unit next to a window so it can get a signal. Once you have the GPS connected the rest is straight forwards and you won't see that screen again - until the next time you power it up.
Get that working before you try messing around loading up the speed cams etc. This is easy just follow the instructions on this site - you can get to the cameras from this sites home page just scroll down a bit.
I would recommend you download and install 5,1 from the tomtom web site. Mike |

Hi topref
As one of your replies mentions you must get the Bluetooth and the GPS receiver working together before you can run the program. If not, the Bluetooth manager will keep interrupting until you do so. I have an Ipaq 2210 and the Bluetooth must be configured to ‘other cable NMEA GPS’ and port 8. You must also set the baud rate (mine is 38400). _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Sorry but just been asked by Alix to put this on - (I assume he is still in the truck)
"The guy with the 2210 needs to add the gps as a paired device and needs to manually connect to com8 and then start tt"
Probably similar to the previous reply but I said I would post it - Mike |
