I've installed TT5 on my PDA and I'm driving it from a Bluetooth GPS that I got off eBay. The indicated position on the map is consistently about 200 yds NNE of the true position. When I'm moving N or S the position is generally shown on the road that I'm actually on but if I'm moving E or W, the kit thinks I'm in a side street and is constantly re-navigating to get me back on to the main road. I can set different spheroids on the GPS but it doesn't seem to influence the result. Is there a way of introducing an offset into the TT5? Can anyone suggest another solution? |

Hi GrahamCresswell,
to the forum!
If you can set different spheroids on the GPS, can you set a different Map Datum? If you can, try Map Datum WGS84.

Sorry Privateer - that's what I call a spheroid. I've tried WGS84 and OSGB36 because they are the most commonly used datums as far as I am aware. Neither solves the problem.

Hi Graham,
That’s OK. ;) However I would stick with WGS84 though as that’s what the vast majority of electronic maps use, including TomTom ones.
If you’re able to change Map Datum and spheroids ;), do you have any other parameters that you can change? E.g. offsets?
What GPS unit are you using?

I'm using a Bluetooth GPS receiver that I got from eBay. It doesn't have a brand name and the supplier was a chap in Hong Kong! Perhaps I am getting my just deserts! |

Graham,
I'm using a BT-338 device & I don't get any errors on mine & I'm pretty sure that the majority of users don't either.
How's the Fant Footy going!!! |

I'm using the Holux GR-236 and I'm getting the same bug/issue. Not very often though, it has occured three times on three different locations and times of the day. In my cases the problem went away after 10-15 minutes. No idea why it happens. It's really irritating though....
Can you reproduce the error, i.e. do you get the error everytime you drive a certain street/location? |
