Having browsed many of the threads prior to upgrading from TTN3 to 5 I figured I could take advantage of the upgrade offer, back up v3 and try out v5 safely (back up (Sprite) to my CF card)

Having tried v5 I reverted to v3 for the moment to check something. After the restore the menu item (On the Today screen) for TomTom does not work - I have to use the pull-down menu and sure enough there it does work. Also, when running switching from Nav view to Map is v-e-r-y slow.

Anybody got any thoughts?

I have searched the forum but can't find anything relevant.

Also - one of my main dislikes about TTN5 is the fact that you do not seem to be able to get at the Today screen and app menus except by the Task hardware button - is there any way around this.

The Today screen plugin looks for the first "TomTom Navigator.exe" on the PDA and tries to run that. If you have both TTN3 and TTN5 installed then it gets confused.

Solution: de-install and re-install the Today Plugin

As for the "world domination" (the difficulty to get back to the OS) - yes, that's what TomTom intent - they want to own your Pocket PC, and do not want you to do anything else with it while you run their program. It's called "kiosk mode". Nothing you can do about it apart from not using TomTom.

I just program one of my hardware buttons to "OK/close". this causes TTN5 to minimuse (NOT exit) and gives you back control of your PDA whilst leaving TTN5 to run in the background.
