Howdie Folks,

Dont know if this will help anyone else, but thought i would post it anyway.

After getting no joy with TT5 working with my Copilot GPS jacket, i switched back to my navman jacket which would get a fix, but not as stable as it was with TT3.

I was about to put my Copilot GPS Jacket on Ebay, but thought i would give it one more shot. Having changed nothing software wise, i started to fiddle with the BAUD rate. I finally got it to work after dropping the baud rate to 4800!

Although it now works and will get a fix, will the drop in baud rate have any real effect? I dont know, but for this might be of help to someone else in my position.

Rgds

Hi Aidi,

I have an Ipaq with an expansion jacket and a CF GPS system.

I found also (with the help of a colleague on this forum) that it is necessary to operate the unit at 4800 baud and nothing higher.

I cannot say for certain but I would expect that a low baud rate will have little effect upon performance. With a screen update rate of about 1 fps there is more than enough time for TT to grab the data and process it. I cannot imagine that a GPS card is transmitting a huge amount of data.

I have found that TT5 is much more sensitive to the number of sats available. I think that this is something of an issue especially in cities and in the countryside.
