BT308 Replacement car charger + wiring info

My car charger just blew up and I need a replacement without being ripped off - do Maplins or ARD do a suitable unit - can someone tell me what the exact spec is as the little jack seems to be an odd size. what is it and is it centre +ve or -ve?

Also, I'd like to "hardwire" a BT308 into one of my cars, is there an easier way of doing this than simply buying a car charger and pulling it to pieces to splic in behind a suitable power supply?
