Strange problem with 2004 navigator software

The problem I am having is that the tomtom software does not recognize that my pda is charging while I am using the software. If I am driving around for awhile the current speed display changes to a battery icon which starts to flash yellow as if to notify me that my pda battery is low and after awhile the battery icon will then start to flash red as if to notify me that my battery is about to die.
I am using the akron gps mount but that is working fine, since after tomtom displays the low battery icons I then switch to my pda's main screen to see the current battery status and it shows that my pda is being charged as it should be.
So if anyone knows how to fix this strange problem please let me know.
