I have a Mio 168 I had TT3 + Checkpoint speed camera database on it and all was fine, I wanted the new maps + postcodes so I upgraded to TT5, the first thing I found was the POI warning signs were NAF BEEPS ana BELLS etc, so after having a search around Pocket GPS forum I found a very nice man called ray who offerd to make me up my own set of POI warnings for the speed cameras, I chose the sounds that came with Checkpoint from my old dowwnload, and may I say a great big thanks to Ray Flanagan for doing this and emailing the patch to me, WORKS GREAT.

My second problem was if you were going around a roundabout, or in some cases just doing a turn left or right, the display would be very jerky and slow, not at all smooth like my old TT3, the way I have overcome this is to "TURN OF POI" now then I here you say ! if you turn of POI which includes Speed Cameras you will start getting fines, NOT SO, I have found that by doing this it has transformed TT5, it now runs very smoothly and dont ask me why but the SPEED CAMERAS WITH VOICE ALERTS STILL WORK.

Give it a try, it makes TT5 on the Mio great ! it should work on other PDA's to.

I also use Memory Map 2004 3D on the Mio 168 for MTBiking and Hiking (WOW) what a program, I am lucky enough to have all the UK in Aerial and Terrain + the National Parks in 125;000, it is the best thing since sliced bread, and with the battery extender that are only £5.99 you will never get flat batteries.

I hope you will find this of some use. :P

If any one needs any info. just ask via email or PM :D

Hi,

I posted some while back asking if anyone used one of those battery extenders but I got no reply.

I also use MM for mountain biking & am desperate to get a battery extender from ebay but I am not sure about getting one. I see that Mio do not sell them so I am worried that it will harm the 168 but really need one on long rides on the south downs as I'm always switching the mio off to save power.

The one I have seen is a black unit with a green light on it & it takes 4 x AA bat's either rechargables or normal & it sell on ebay for around £7.

Can you recommend it ?.

Thanks

Hi

Chris Hamill of Morph Mobiles sells them on EBay for £4.99 and £2.00 P&P, he is A1 and posts next day.

I use 4 x AA NMHI 1800 MAH batteries in mine and it will charge the Mio 168 from flat 4-5 times, I would be totaly lost without it, weighs almost nothing and works fantastic.

BUY ONE !!!
