Seidio 2500 - shortcircuited battery

I have a Seidio 2500 for my Ipaq 5450 which I have been using for about 9 months. In the last 4 months I have had to replace the TomTom Bluetooth GPS as it suddenly stopped charging. In addition I had to replace the Ipaq battery as it also "blew" overnight. A SD card from Sandisk is now completely unreadable and to top it all the new battery has gone the same way as the previous one. It worked fine until I mounted the pda in the G2500 one morning. The pda then performed a hardware reset. Since then I have not been able to reanimate it. I have also bought myself a new SD card. However I am loathe to install it for fear of having the same problem again. This is getting rather expensive.
Has anyone had similiar experiences?

you have plugged the 12 V straight-through power adapter into the lower socket on the right side, correct? Because if you plug it into the upper socket (unfortunately it fits there too) things like the ones you describe may happen.

Yes it is plugged in correctly (just been out to the car to check).

Perhaps this could be on the same argument.
Yesterday, after having connected my H4150 to the Seidio 2500 for the first time, I obtained for two times a warning from the ipaq telling me the charging process was been stopped due to the battery over temperature!!!

Also, the audio amplifier does not work at all.
Definitely, I must open the craddle and see what to do.

Just a bad purchase.

I had an early example of this mount 18 months ago.

it was simply the worst thing I have ever purchased - in 3 months I went through 3 power cables, my ipaq was so hot the outlook sticker on the back pealed off and the speaker quality was just plain terrible.

I learnt 3 things - so it wasn't a total loss.

1. don't rely on reviews (this got great reviews everywhere) - wait for mugs (like me) to buy new gear and read their experiences.

2. don't buy anything from seidio (although the support was great they just kept sending the power leads no argument) - I never bothered to ask about the speaker or the hot ipaq - I just took the bad purchase route and gave up.

3. not to waste time on it - throw it in the bin and buy something else - the haicom powered mounts, the tomtom specific mount (no speaker), various arkon mounts and the brondits are all well reviewed by actual purchasers.

After 2 batteries and a memory card I would not use it, email seidio and ask to return it the 2 batteries and the sd card and ask them to replace the lot - their support is better than their products (in my humble opinion).

I recently ordered a mount direct from Seidio for my iPaq 2210, and am totally pleased with it. It runs cold, so I assume that they've eiher solved the overheating problem, or it doesn't apply if you don't use the GPS charging lead.

Compared to my previous Silver Shield mount, it has a much more robust and firm vent bracket and, since my BMW doesn't switch off power to the lighter socket, only the lack of a power switch on the mount is a trifle annoying.
