I have a dodgy file on my TomTom SD card. If I try to back up my SD card I get an error message "error copying connect2internet: the request could not be performed becuase of an I/O device error". I have tried this on two different computers and I get the same message. If I try to view the properties of connect2internet I get the message "E:/ is not accessible the request could not be performed becuase of an I/O device error". I have an earier backup on my PC but it will not perform a restore due to this problem file. All other files on my SD card card be accessed with no problems at all. Should I reformat the SD and copy over an earlier backup. I'm currently using 5.1. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Copy ALL other files from your SD card to your harddrive.

(Do NOT use TT backup function for that - it only copies your personal settings, it's not a full backup)

Buy a new SD card (or reformat the original)

Copy all the files from the HD back to the SD card.

Re-install version 5.1 or upgrade to v5.2 (you'll get your connect2internet file back)

You might need to reactivate the map.

I used a new SD card and it now works fine. Had to format original SD to get it working again. Thanks

I can confirm this. I got exactly the same problem with two brand new 300's.

Here is the solution:

- put the card in a card reader
- backup all data from the SD-card to your PC
- format the card
- put all data back to the card
