What's the deal? (Tomtom Speed Camera Database)

Just wanted to know why Tomtom are selling a downloadable database of all speed cameras for the UK (almost twice the price than some other countries). Is this database as reliable as the teleatlas maps? Or is it way to make a little more cash?

I thinks I will keep my hard earned cash.

Well, this was a thought I posted on another TTG forum last week:

I'm not usually an apologist for TomTom, but I think I can see the explanation for TomTom's 'paid-for' alternative to the excellent and free PocketGPSWorld service.

It's about marketing and sales. Now that the days of radar detectors are over, a lot of people are likely to buy TT products as an alternative for this purpose. TT must offer a comprehensive product to be able to claim this functionality, and really won't care after the sale whether the owner is smart enough to figure it out or not.
