Hi,

Just received my TomTom 5 Upgrade today - just installed it and tested it out.

The program itself seems ok, but i'm a bit dissapointed with the maps! - there are roads in our estate which have been around for a few years and dont seem to have been added!

I started using TomTom just after v3 came out and there is 1 main road in particular which wasn't in v3, but I half expected this as it wasn't that old then - but now a year or whatever on and it's still not in TTN5 Sad

Also, the list of countries on the map installation CD's seems to be much shorter than the list on the web site when I ordered the upgrade. For example, NL and Poland dont seem to be mentioned on the CD's but they were definatly in the list - where are they??

Anyone worked out what the difference between the GB and GB+ maps are or why the heck they have the postcode stuff separate instead of just in the maps?

Thanks

Poland is on the Germany plus map.

Holland is on the Benelux maps (both "normal" and plus).

As for the "plus" : The plus indicates that the maps includes MROE (Major Roads Of Europe). You only need 1 of the maps with plus, to be able to navigate cross europe. I.e. if you are going from Belgium to Italy and back, I would install Italy+ and the normal Benelux. This way you have the major roads through france, germany etc. and the detailed maps of Belgium and Italy.

Hi,

humm... I wonder whether there has been some mistake and they've accidently distributed the TTN3 maps with TTN5 instead of the updated ones...

If they are the new maps, then what the heck have Teleatlas been doing for a year or so??

PostPosted: Fri Jun 17, 2005 9:37 am    Post subject: Help me, please? Loading Maps from CD's to HP iPAQ Reply with quote

This may be a very simple (silly) thing to ask, but... Confused

I have received the upgrade for TT5 (2 days ago now) but I keep getting the "no maps found" error. Can anyone help as to how I can get the maps loaded to my iPaq HP1940.

I've tried placing the cab files to my SD card, but when it tries to install, they automatically fo to the MY Documents folder on my PDA and not to my storage card.

Is there any one out there that's had this problem and been able to resolve it?

Any/all assistance is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

You need to use the map cd to install the right map on to your pocket pc. My machine seems to reboot if I do it straight to the pocketpc, so I select other location, do it to my hard disk, then copy the folder over to an SD card.

Hi,

Not copy or cabs - you need to run the installer, and sellect the install maps option - it then does the copying of the map files.

Which installer?

When I run the setup, there is not an install maps option.

Is there something that I'm missing?

Hi,

You should have a load of different CD's - you're probably looking at the application CD - you need to use one of the map cd's. The GB map is on CD1.

I have looked on all 7 of the cd's that I have.

The 1st is the application. This I know. I also found that CD1 was the GB and GB+ maps on it. (and that the rest of the Europe is scatted across cd's 2 - 6)

Should the "install maps" option appear from within this cd's setup.exe program or is there something else that I should be running (that I may have missed).

Or...could there be something wrong with the cd's that I have received (direct from TomTom via the upgrade programme)

(btw the way, thanks for all of your assistance so far)

Hi,

Yep, on that CD1, if you run the installer (or let it autorun), when you get to the options, there should be one like "Install Maps", "Add Maps" or something similar about maps!

If you follow this option, it lets you select which map to install, then where to install it.
