I have just purchased an iPAQ 1930 with Alturion and a Globalsat br-305 with AH-103 connector. But the Alturion software does not have the br-305 in the dropdown list of receivers (unless it goes by another name?). I have tried the wizard to search for the receiver but it can never find it.

Just keep getting message - GPS device not connected.

Now I think the receiver is meant to transmit via the IR connection.

I just can't seem to get it working.

Any help appreciated.

Thank you

Or COM3 on some iPAQs - it depends a little on the model.

I have it working. If anybody else needs the info. COM2, board 4800. and untick receive all IR from the beam settings.

The setup instructions are actually included with the AH-103 mount. But just to recap...

1. Make sure the infra red module is in line with the infra red of your PDA.
2. Go to settings / connectivity / beams and untick "Receive all incoming beams"
3. Start up your Alturion software and it will usually detect your GPS Receiver automatically, but if it doesn't then choose "NMEA 4800" and Com 2.

Hi

thanks for all the info. Now it has been working ok since i gt it, but just recently evn with all the correct settings, it can't seem to find the GPS Device. It found it tonight on my way to somewhere. But on the way back it just would not connect. I tried the wizard. I reset the PDA, checked all the settings, it all seems fine. but it just won't find it. Is it possible I have a dodgy one?

The infra red module has a flat end and a curved end. Can you make sure the curved face is pointing towards the infra red of the PDA.

Is the PDA failing to find the GPS Receiver or is the GPS Receiver not finding satellites?

mm good question

I tried it this morning at home and it seemed to pick up 5 out of 12 satelites. I was using the the GPS info that comes with Alturion. Not sure if you are familiar with it but you get like a pulse line, it was mainly red, sometimes flashed blue. went green for a few seconds then stayed red. then the light on the gps device stayed constant.

Are there any software drivers for this device?

I'm not getting a clear picture here.

You said you tried it at home... how did you get the infra red mount to work at home...?

I now don't even get a flashing LED anymore. It's just like when I first got it. Either a setting has gone wrong or it's knackered.
