Maps from other sytems....kind of.

I recently bought a Navman iCN 610,and was talking to a friend today about it,about other maps for other countries.

I happened to remark,that I'm off to France in August,and that I would have to get the unlock key for my French map cd that came with the unit.

He said that he could copy his French map cd onto a 512 memory card,and that I could use it on my system.He has a PDA.

I said that he was talking rubbish,and that I thought it couldn't be done as the map won't work on mine,but he is adamant.

So,who's right,and who's wrong here?

He's talking poppycock of course!! Even if his was another iCN it wouldn't work because the maps would need activating but as his is a GO the maps are an entirely different format and will not work.
