VW Touran with MFD2 System - HELP!!!

I hope someone can help me. I have just bought a vw Touran with a MFD2 Sat Nav color sat nav unit installed. I have used Tom tom both on a ipaq and have a go. But the unit in the Touran seems very basic by comparison, I cannot see a way of saving point of interests.
it all seems a bit basic which is a pity since they charge £1600 for the option!!. Any help would be greatfully recevied. Also cant seem to get the TMC thing working either.
