|
|
Hello all.
I have a really annoying problem: The Tomtom GPS Driver screen doesn't show any model in the "GPS" tab, only "COM SERIAL PORT 1:" and doesn't let me choose anything more that this. 8O I'm totally unable to use my bluetooth GPS (Fortuna Clip-On) because of this strange problem.
A few days days ago, it worked perfectly using "NMEA 0183v2 38400" and "Bluetooth Serial Port COM8:"
It appears that all models disappeared. I like crazy uninstalling and reinstalling the "GPS Driver.cab", but this doesn't work.
Please help me, I did this question in the most famous Spanish Forum (TodoPocketPC.com), but I think nobody knows a thing about this issue. I really need all of you.
Thank you a lot! |

What have you installed since for it to break ?
Try and work that out and uninstall it. If you've applied an update on TomTom then I would uninstall TomTom ~ GPS and allow it to restart. If you've installed another underlying GPS or BT driver like GPSGate or for a BT keyboard or headset then I would try and uninstall this. |

I've uninstalled and installed Tomtom GPS ~ Driver lots of times and let it reset my PPC each one
I've not installed any other BT Device or underlaying driver. I think the only thing I did was to transfer files to a mobile phone through bluetooth.
Well, I did check the registry and saw that there's a key named "GPS Engine" under Tomtom, it contains a largue list of models like this:
model1 blablablba
model2 blablabla
model3 blabla blba
...
Here they appear, but the GPS Driver seems not to get any information about the models nor protocols, so it doesn't populate the two lists in the "GPS" Tab
I even tried to unistall the entire application including Tomtom Navigator and Voice, and reinstall ALL the 3 packs again. The problem I think its all about the registry or the Tomtom settings.
This problem happened a few time ago too, and it was solved doing a HARD RESET. But it's doing again... and I'm completly disagree to do a HR. A program like this cannot have a problem that forces you to do one when it happens!
Help... I'm almost depressed! |

If you're happy with using a registry editor and would rather avoid a hard reset, I would uninstall all TomTom software, delete the GPS registry key you mention in its entirety, and reinstall. It may just get you going - though it may break things completely. It sounds like you're not far from having to hard reset anyway, though - only you can decide whether the risk is worthwhile.
TomTom GPS, from memory, stores all its settings in the registry. Sometimes things get so screwed up on any installation of Windows, especially if the registry is damaged, that a reinstall (which means a hard reset on a Pocket PC) is unavoidable.

Do you mean I have to hard reset to install it clean? What a critical solution!
Does somebody know how the GPS Driver is configured internally or the reason for this to happen?
I'm sure that I haven't modified any configuration.
Take a look at this picture:
The programs I have are:
OzVGA
SE_VGA
Wisbar Advance
Skype
Intelliart ModPlayer
Cirond Pocket Winc
Resco Explorer
Resco PhotoViewer
Resco KeyBoard
Morphgear
OziExplorer
SPB PocketWeather
PocketRAR
GSPlayer
GSPlayer for MIDI
Pocket Artist
Netfront
MemMaid
BetaPlayer
AgileMessenger
Is some program suspicious?? and... does anybody more about this problem??
Thank you a lot |

It's hard to say what's happened - if you've tried wiping the TomTom GPS registry key and reinstalling, there's probably not a lot more you can do other than a hard reset.
Before resorting to a hard reset, I would remove SE_VGA - a lot of software doesn't support it properly, and it looks as if the screen shot was taken with SE_VGA enabled. Does the problem disappear with SE_VGA removed?

Ohh my God!!
Thanks Heaven and you my fellows!
The solution came! You helped me, and eternally pleased for your help!
THE KEY WAS THE VGA RESOLUTION!!!!
I was using OzVGA to change the real VGA resolution and used it to go into 480x640 pixels mode.
The problem is that when you're in this mode, the listbox ONLY contains the last driver used.
To solve this situation you have to go back to the standard resolution (QVGA or seVGA in the case of VGA Devices). If you understand me better: you have to change the resolution to the one that has the PPC when it is started the first time.
Thank you all and best wishes!
