I was wondering if it is possible to use a desktop route planner, export the route and convert it into .itn format (Tomtom route format).
I already tried several desktop route planners (route66, Alturion and MS Autoroute 2005) but nothing does the trick.
Conversion program used (GPS Babel 1.2.4 and GPS Utility 4.15).
Any suggestions? |

Where's the problem? The format of the itn file is very simple
1. decimal longitude * 10000 (discard decimals)
2. decimal latitude * 10000 (discard decimals)
3. name of place
4. stopover type (use 2 for destination, 0 for waypoint)
all fields terminated by a |
Should be pretty straightforward in Excel. Oldie, any plans to include in your log converter? _________________ Lutz

What I meant to do is to use a desktop route planner to plan waypoints to be used in Tomtom. Reason is the small interface on a ppc compared to a desktop.
Currently I am as far as rte-format, which can be converted using notepad or even a perl-script, but automatic conversion is a lot easier. |

An Excel macro is automation enough, or? You can read the rte file and spit out the itn file... _________________ Lutz

Richard Davies' POIConvertor program can convert between many formats including TomTom itinerary files, so if it also covers your PC 'desktop routeplanner' program then it should be right for you. Read about it here:
