Not exactly a big deal, but I've noticed a problem with the text at the very bottom of the safety screen that tells where you are. For example when you are in Weldon, Northants it tells you that you're in Weldon, Northumbria(!), however Weldon is listed correctly when searching for an address in the database.

It seems to happen when there is more than one town/village in the UK with the same name - I've had the same thing happen in Elton, Cambs and a few other places in Cambridgeshire where it told me I was in Suffolk...

Like I said, not a big deal as it only seems to affect the safety screen.

It's a known issue with the political boundary indexes. It also pops up when using the address look-up with the erronous political boundary indexes appearing in brackets next to the town names.

It doesn't affect searches and has been corrected in newer platform releases so it should be corrected on the PPC Platform in the next version.

As Darren says, it's an old bug and is purely cosmetic. All versions of TomTom Navigator 2 and 3, when displaying a place name, can display garbage in the brackets.

That codebase has now been retired by TomTom; all future versions will be based on TomTom's "common platform" software. Hopefully that will be the end of the problem.
